In short
Kuala Lumpur has the widest choice of international schools in Malaysia, mostly British, with IB and American options too. Typical annual tuition runs from about RM 20,000 to RM 49,000, with the established KL schools between RM 60,000 and RM 120,000. It suits families who want to compare several schools and need dependable English support in the first year.
Families who want to compare several schools before deciding. The Klang Valley has the largest concentration of international schools in the country, so almost any curriculum, budget or teaching style is represented.
Parents working in the city, who need a school within a reasonable drive of the office and a neighbourhood with other international families nearby.
Children who may need English support in the first year: the bigger KL schools tend to have established EAL departments, although some charge for it separately.
The most common choice by far, running IGCSE and then A Levels or the IB Diploma. Fees span the widest range of any curriculum here.
Fewer schools, usually more expensive, and a heavier workload. Worth thinking carefully about if your child is moving into English-medium study for the first time.
A small number of schools, ending in Advanced Placement courses. Often the easiest transition for children coming from a US-style system.
Tuition is only part of it. In your first year expect registration, a deposit and sometimes a capital levy, and check whether English support is charged on top.

Quieter and greener, popular with families who want space and a walkable neighbourhood.
More affordable housing and a good spread of schools, though traffic into the city can be slow.
Newer, cheaper and calmer, with a handful of schools; a longer trip into KL itself.
From years of reading applications on the school's side, these are the answers that tell you most.
